OCR.net provides cloud-based optical character recognition via its responsive web app, and various native apps (e.g. for Android, iOS, Windows Phone). Files that you submit to this web service are transmitted to the OCR.net job dispatch server securely (TLSv1.2 if supported by your client). Actual conversion is performed by one of the OCR daemons running throughout the world. When a daemon is finished with a conversion, the resulting file is transferred back to the dispatch server securely, and all files are immediately deleted from the daemon server. The client (mobile app or web app) then retrieves the data securely to be viewed or downloaded on your local device. The files will remain on the dispatch server for no more than 2 hours, after which time all remnants of the job are deleted from the server.
While OCR.net uses secure protocols for transferring data between client and server, it is not recommended that you use this server for highly confidential data. If you require conversion of confidential material, you should install PDF OCR X on your local desktop computer to perform the conversion directly.
OCR.net does not collect or retain any personal data from any of its mobile apps or web service, with the exception of files that you explicitly submit for conversion (which are also deleted from the server within 2 hours).
